10 DIY SKINCARE FACE MASKS AND SCRUBS

Want soft, clear, glowing skin but are on a budget? I feel you girl. That's why I'm here today to give you all my tips on your journey to clear skin.

For the longest time I had horrible skin, I experimented by putting a bunch of overpriced crap on my face and in result the changes on my skin were barely noticeable.

So, I gathered up some DIY skincare face masks that anyone can make using ingredients that can be found in the average household or are easy to purchase at your local supermarket. The best part? It's super affordable! Remember if you feel any sort of irritation, rinse the mask of immediately. Enjoy!


Face Mask 1.

INGREDIENTS:
-A ripe banana
-Rose water (¼)
-Honey (1 teaspoon)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mash a banana into a smooth paste

  2. Add 1 teaspoon of honey and the rose water

  3. Mix and Apply

  4. Rinse off with warm water after 15 minutes

BENEFITS:

This mask is my favorite. It's super easy to make and has amazing benefits for your skin. It noticeably makes your skin brighter, even and feel softer. It's a great mask for when your skin is feeling dull or dry.

The benefits include: bananas contain Potassium, Zinc, Vitamins, etc. These help hydrate and moisturize your skin while also healing dry skin. The vitamins help fade any dark spots, acne scars, or uneven skin tone. Zinc helps fight any acne causing bacteria.

Rose water has anti-inflammatory properties that aid in healing red or irritated skin. It also helps nourish and hydrate the skin while leaving it visibly brighter. Honey is full of antioxidants so it's very moisturizing and soothing, giving your skin a natural glow.

Face Mask 2.

INGREDIENTS:

-Turmeric (1 tablespoon)

-Milk (almond milk if you're vegan) (¼)

-Lemon (1 teaspoon)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix the tumeric, milk and lemon into a paste

  2. Apply and rinse off with warm water after 15 minutes

BENEFITS:

This mask is great for when your skin is acting up and you need a quick and easy fix. Helps diminish acne, dark spots, and helps soften your skin. Do this mask only 2x a week.

The benefits include: turmeric contains anti-inflammatory properties which target your pores and help calm the skin. That's why it's known to reduce acne and help diminish any scars, or uneven texture. Also helps in reducing redness and irritation.

Milk helps brighten and soften your skin due to it's powerhouse of vitamins. It helps in soothing dry, dull skin and making it feel a lot softer after each use.

Lemon contains Vitamin C which aids in reducing dark spots. Make sure to use a SMALL amount of lemon because too much can not be good for your skin.

Face Mask 3.

INGREDIENTS:

-Ripe banana

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mash a banana into a smooth paste

  2. Apply and wash off after 15 minutes

BENEFITS:

Use a banana as an all-natural, homemade face mask that moisturizes your skin and leaves it looking and feeling softer. Simple, quick and does the trick!

Face Mask 4.

INGREDIENTS:

-½ cup raw honey

-3 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice (the more pulp, the better)

-1 tablespoon sea salt

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix honey and orange juice to form a paste (if needed, add more honey to thicken)

  2. Apply to dry, clean skin and leave on for about 15 minutes.

  3. Rinse off with water.

BENEFITS:

Enlarged pores? This natural shrinking face mask is toxin-free and are made with products you probably have in your kitchen right now.

Honey is a natural antibacterial and full of antioxidants, the sticky substance is great for acne prevention and tissue regeneration.

The citric acid in orange juice aids in skin exfoliation and the sea salt preserves the mixture.

Face Mask 5.

INGREDIENTS:

-½ avocado
-½ very ripe banana
-1 Tbsp. olive oil
-2-3 drops essential oil (optional) – this can be any essential oil (ex. lavender).

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Peel a banana and avocado and mix into a paste

  2. Add your oils

  3. Apply and rinse off with warm water

BENEFITS:

Rich in antioxidants and oleic acid, this mask is made with avocado, banana, and olive oil. These ingredients moisturize and soothe redness and irritation. It really does the trick!


SCRUBS:

Next are the scrubs. Making your own scrub is super easy, they have multi-uses, are affordable and knowing what's in your skincare products is major key in taking good care of your skin.

Also, over exfoliating your skin is no good. This irritates it and causes irritation leaving you with more acne. Make sure to only exfoliate 3x a week. (less if your skin is extra sensitive)

Scrub 1.

INGREDIENTS:
-Honey (1 tablespoon)

-Sugar (1 ½ tablespoon)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix the honey and sugar into a paste

  2. Apply and gently scrub in circular motion around your face

BENEFITS:

This scrub leaves your skin super soft. And can be used on your body, lips, and face.

Scrub 2.

INGREDIENTS:
-Coffee (2 tablespoons)

-Coconut Oil (2 tablespoons) (use honey instead if used on face, 1 ½ tablespoon)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix the coffee grains with the coconut oil

  2. Apply and gently scrub in circular motion around your face

BENEFITS:

This homemade coffee scrub and mask sloughs away dead skin cells, deeply nourishes my skin and leaves me with a radiant, glowing complexion. The immediate brightening, smoothing and line minimizing effects lasts for hours and hours!

The caffeine found in coffee typically increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, gives your skin a more even tone and contains anti-aging properties.

Coconut oil is naturally anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and moisturizing. It contains primarily of nourishing fatty acids and is especially high in lauric acid. It also contains vitamin E and healthy fats, which help to make skin smooth.

Scrub 3.

INGREDIENTS:
-1/2 cup fresh blueberries

-2 tbsp honey (raw and local is best)

-1 – 2 tbsp sugar

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small food processor, and blend into a smooth paste

  2. Apply to a clean face, let it sit for 10 minutes

  3. Gently scrub in circular motion around your face and rinse off

BENEFITS:

Looking for easy, inexpensive homemade face scrubs? This exfoliating face scrub your skin will love for sure!

Blueberries are packed with antioxidants and vitamin C, which can do wonders for your pretty face. Honey is an awesome natural anti-inflammatory, antiseptic substance that works magic on all sorts of blemishes, boils and zits.

The fine sugar in this scrub sloughs off dead, lackluster skin cells—no rubbing required.

Scrub 4.

INGREDIENTS:
- ½ cup old-fashioned oats

-Water

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Blend the ingredients

  2. Let it sit till oats slightly soften

  3. Apply to a clean face, let it sit for 10 minutes

  4. Gently scrub in circular motion around your face and rinse off

BENEFITS:

Oatmeal has rich anti-oxidant properties and helps undo damage done to your skin by the sun. It helps reduce itching and inflammation and can be used to calm eczema and heal psoriasis. Oatmeal can also soak up the excess oil on your skin and help treat acne.

Scrub 5.

INGREDIENTS:
- 1/2 fresh lemon
-1/2 cup of granulated sugar
-1 tbsp of olive oil
-1 tbsp of organic honey

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Mix the lemon juice and olive oil

  2. Add honey and olive oil

  3. Squeeze a freshly cut lemon and combine the sugar

  4. Mix and apply to a clean face, let it sit for 10 minutes

  5. Gently scrub in circular motion around your face and rinse off

BENEFITS:

Lemon is a natural source of vitamin C; an ingredient commonly used to lighten sun and age spots and even out skin tone; a natural astringent that tightens pores and brightens the complexion.

Olive Oil is high in vitamin E, which soothes and heals skin; a natural moisturizing ingredient often used for its anti-aging benefits. Honey is natural source of anti-oxidants making it a perfect ingredient for age prevention; a natural humectant so it locks water into the skin and keeps the complexion hydrated; the antibacterial properties benefit acne-prone skin by reducing breakouts.

The natural exfoliator, sugar; is a natural source of glycolic acid which evens out skin tone, cleans pores, and improves overall skin texture by removing dead, dull skin cells.
